The first generation of polyolefin filled masterbatch (APP masterbatch) carrier resin used is made of atactic polypropylene (PP production is actually a by-product), processing technology: mixing - mixing - granulating water film, intermittent production, using the equipment mixer, mixing machine and plate cutting machine.
The second generation of polyolefin filled masterbatch is based on LDPE (1F7B) as the carrier resin, and the masterbatch produced is called PEP masterbatch. This process must adopt a specially designed single screw extruder with a large ratio of length to diameter and high mixing performance in order to get better results.
The filling masterbatch with polypropylene powder as the carrier, that is, PPM masterbatch, is called the third generation of plastic filling masterbatch in China. Generally, the blend of polypropylene and polyethylene is used as a carrier resin, and the effect is very good. The product not only maintains the characteristics and use range of the PPM masterbatch, but also uses the hot - cut air cooling technology to improve the production efficiency and reduce the cost of raw materials.

The concentration of fillers and auxiliaries in the filled masterbatch is large. When used, a certain amount of matrix resin must be added, and then processed after mixing, and the filler will play a filling role. Packing and auxiliaries can give special functions of plastic products, such as light, electricity, flame retardancy, degradation, etc., called functional filler materials. The functional masterbatch usually includes color masterbatch, light conversion masterbatch, high efficient insulating film masterbatch, anti fog masterbatch and degrading masterbatch.
Color masterbatch is a special kind of granular material to make plastic products. It can be divided into polyolefins, ABS, PS and AS according to the colored plastic varieties. The production process of color masterbatch is usually divided into two steps: the first step is to make the pigment predispersion, using dispersants or other additives on the pigment surface treatment; the second step is the pigment predispersion and carrier resin mixed granulation after color masterbatch. Color masterbatch is made up of pigments, dispersants, carrier resins and appropriate additives. The main function of the dispersant is to disperse the pigment fully and evenly disperse it in the carrier resin and the matrix resin, and finally the plastic products with uniform color and lustre are obtained. The carrier resin used for Color Masterbatch should first have good compatibility with the colored resin. Secondly, the mobility of the carrier resin should be larger than that of the colored resin, so that the pigment can be better dispersed. The composition of Color Masterbatch, the choice and dosage of pigment depend on the nature of the colored plastic. Usually used in coloring masterbatch of polyolefin plastics, the pigment content is 20%~40% (mass fraction).
